I discovered that I have a gift for preaching and teaching the Word of God when I was a theological student during the late 1980's.

While our post-modern culture subverts the relevancy of Biblical scriptures for people of the 21st century, I have no doubt that as long as sin and death are realities in our world, the Bible remains the most consequential book of all time. 

I believe in good exegesis, grueling preparation and dynamism in delivering the message of the Kingdom. I pray for my heart to become one with the message and for the Word to become the seed of the Kingdom in my mouth. 

I do not believe the true nature of Biblical preaching to be an invite to a dialogue or merely a dissemination of points for further thinking. The word of the Kingdom is authoritative proclamation under the anointing of the Holy Spirit to be accepted or rejected by the listener. Jesus taught with authority. 

This authority is different from an autocratic: "You do as I say." It is an appeal to the heart with the full potential of unlocking salvation, dispelling darkness, breaking bondages, and producing growth in the one who hears and says: "Yes, Lord!"  I never see myself above the word that I teach or preach but as the first listener who must also answer with a definitive "YES!"
